Assess your English SkillsUnsure if You're Ready? For some purposes, both versions of IELTS may be accepted. If you are unsure as to which version to take, please contact the organization directly in order to check their specific requirements. The IELTS test is designed to assess your English language skills at all levels. You cannot fail the test. You will receive IELTS scores based on each four of the skills (Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing) on a scale of 1 - 9 and you will also be awarded an overall band score. About IELTSThe International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is one of the world's most popular high-stakes English language tests. It is the test that opens doors to a world of academic and professional opportunities around the world where English is the language in the workplace or the classroom. It is a test that demonstrates your English language abilities to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to gain a Canadian visa. Universities and colleges in Canada accept IELTS, as well as most professional associations, that have a set minimum English language requirement. IELTS is recognized by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for application to its immigration programs. In addition, IELTS is widely accepted by both universities and colleges in Canada, as well as professional associations which have set minimum language requirements. IELTS is accepted worldwide by over 12,000 organizations including many in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America. It is recognized by schools, universities, employers, immigration, and professional bodies. There are two IELTS test types. The IELTS Academic and the IETLS General Training. Each serving a separate purpose. We encourage and welcome all registrants, candidates, and/or test takers. In playing our part to address under representation, we encourage applicants from under-represented groups, in particular, but not exclusively, on grounds of disability. We welcome requests for specific requirements or adjustments to enable participation and engagement in our work and activities. Our partner, the British Council, is committed to policies and practices of equality, diversity, and inclusion across all our collaborative endeavours.
